Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur. These are just a few of the many artists that have captivated the ears and hearts of many through music. Whether it was showcasing their electrifying stage presence, ability to croon such soulful-esque vocals, or by even lyrically providing vivid imagery for the inner dwellings of many urban communities. Although their tragic deaths, it is the legacy of these artists, brought forth by their music, that have and will continue to keep their spirits blooming.
It was only a year ago when the world lost an artist that could only be described as quintessential. One of one. A man that captured our hearts with his melodic voice and touched our soul with the assist of that signature glove. The man that proved what almost seemed impossible, possible on the night of March 25th, 1983 (Motown 25) and made the world come to a complete halt on June 25th, 2009.
No one has ever witnessed such groundbreaking charisma and jaw dropping talent all in one artist. But, then again no one has ever witnessed a star as brighter than Michael Jackson.

Often labeled as the "Greatest Entertainer of All Time" or a "King of Pop", Michael Jackson (born Michael Joseph Jackson) accomplished feats that almost seemed impossible to artists before him. In fact, confirmed by the Guinness World Records Michael Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time. Despite the media's transgression, Michael surpassed the negativity through his illustrious musical abilities and catalog, along with his accolades as a humanitarian.
Not many artists have been able to captivate their audience in the way he has throughout his 30 year plus career. Starting out as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 (along with his brothers)at the age of 8, Michael's vocal ability matched that of an already established R&B performer.
Soon after the group disbanded, Michael achieved major recognition with the release of 1979's Off the Wall. With the help and guidance of executive producer, Quincy Jones, the album showcased Michael's vocal talents. However, it was until 1982's Thriller that he garnered his greatest recognition as a musical artist, not just an R&B or Pop artist. The iconic album officially set the landmark for Michael's major importance to music.
When it came to making music, Michael seemed to always raise the bar up several notches. From his classic "Thriller" music video/film to the cinematic, "Do You Remember the Time" video, Michael raised the standards every chance he got whether it was musically on his albums or on stage. The end result seemed to always be the same, timeless. As big of a record "Billie Jean" was in 1984, so is it today. It's almost hard to not catch "Thriller" being played during Halloween celebrations or the lyrics of "I Can't Help It" (Off the Wall) still being sent in romantic letters from couples.
An artist of his caliber is one of one and none in between. Although his tragic death, he continues to live on within us. The music that started out from within 2300 Jackson St., Gary, IN. to Westlake Recording Studios and beyond, carries out one man's sweat, blood, tears, and love.
An innovator, an icon, a hero, there will never be another Michael Jackson.
