Violence And Drugs Only...

If you didn't know about this dude you should be aware now.  Coming straight out of the city that brought you some of Hip-Hop's greatest and brightest stars such as Big L, Ma$e, Cam'ron, etc.; Harlem, is the homey Vado.  From the infamous and cult classic mixtape appearances (Boss of All Bosses series) with his mentor, Cam'ron, to his current heat on the radio ("Speakin' Tungs"), Harlem's got a new face.

The current buzz this guy has in the City is phenomenal, considering the fact that he is still a free agent.  As his "Slime Flu" continues to spread throughout the country, many New York hip-hop heads become ecstatic. Its been a while since we heard fresh talent coming out of the five boroughs and the artist being actually lyrically gifted.  There's been many that garnered such buzz and lyrical credibility such as Papoose, Jae Millz, and even Maino but haven't been able to take full advantage of it to proceed into that next level.  Now, I'm not saying that Vado is gifted to the point that he'll crush a competition with some of NY's heavyweights (NaS, Hov, etc.); but, that this he is breaking hip-hop's door with a lot to put on the table.

The man has someone that has something to say.  A story to tell. A point to prove. Legacy to continue. A city to carry...

Off the upcoming U.N (Us Now) album Gunz N Butta due out August 24th, Vado and Cam is "all up in here..."

"We All Up In Here" (Produced By araabMUZIK) - Cam'ron & Vado

Bonus: :"Salute" (Remix) (Featuring Vado) - The Diplomats (Cam, Jim Jones, Juelz)

Props to SNEEZE Mag for the pic., check out the site for an exclusive interview with Vado.

Premeditated Murder...

Nah, this is no suicide note...

I know I've been late with this post but, after hearing this track a couple of times I must say that this upcoming J.Cole album should be phenomenal.  After all the bragging we do on this site about that dude it shouldn't be no surprise at how much he delivers on each and every track.
"Premeditated Murder" (Produced By J.Cole) - J.Cole

SideBar: If this is a throwaway track off his forthcoming debut album then we are in for something really special.

Welcome Me Back...

Hands down the often times eclectic Nicki Minaj, is undoubtedly keeping the hip-hop light bulb alive for the female MCs. Standing in a league that many had once consider scarce or an endangered group since the entry of Hip-Hop starlets "Queen Bee" Lil' Kim, Foxy Brown, Eve, and Remy Ma in '04, Nicki has shown her potential in putting an end to the once questioned "Where are the female MCs.?"  But, wiith an upcoming debut album set for a November 23rd release, will she be able to fully show and prove on an entire full-length LP?  A feat that some rappers have tried their hands on but never fully materialized or even got the hang of (i.e Drag-On, Fabolous, etc.).

The first single off her yet-to-be-titled debut (Yes, we'll forget about the lackluster performance of a single "Massive Attack") "Your Love" garnered pretty much favorable reviews by fans.  The song features the Queens, NY MC portraying her vocal skills over an R&B back drop.  First off, I must say I wasn't pleased with single and even Minaj was surprised at the single's success...

I was not planning on putting the song out at all. But then I heard it one day, somebody told me it was online. And I was like, ‘No way, no way in the world that song is out.’ I went and listened to it and was really upset. It wasn’t mixed, it wasn’t finished, it wasn’t anything — I wasn’t gonna use it at all. But then radio started playing it.

"It's Jizzle From the Bottom of the Map..."

It looks like we have an actual "OFFICIAL" release date for Jeezy's most anticipated forthcoming album, TM 103.  September 28th (his birthday) will be the official date for his latest Thug Motivation installment.  If you thought that was enough get this, below is his newest single from the aforementioned LP featuring production from Shawty Redd and guest appearance from the "YEAAAH!" man himself Lil' Jon (no Eastside Boyz).

"Jizzle" (Produced by Shawty Redd & D. Rich) (Featuring Lil' Jon) - Young Jeezy

SideBar:  Look out for the upcoming Aug/Sept. 2010 XXL 13th Anniversary issue which will feature both Jeezy and Shyne on separate covers.

SideBar2:  This track knocks, don't know if it does for the mainstream though but, since when does Jeezy try to head in that direction? "Ah-haaaaaaa!!!" (Jeezy ad-lib)

tinc2_nr

Erase Me...

Some new Cudi featuring Mr. West off the upcoming Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager

"Erase Me" (Featuring Kanye West) - KiD CuDi

This is why CuDi is one of my favorite dudes out hands down; he seeks to always push the musical envelope by constantly staying out of just one genre niche whether its hip-hop, Pop, etc.  He seems unfazed by the expectations of these genre critics while instead providing great quality music.  After all that's what its all about right?

SideBar: Look out for the pending G.O.O.D. Music Day on 9/14/10.  Reason why I said pending is because I'm awaiting to hear it confirmed by Kanye.  So far G.O.O.D Music's Big Sean, CuDi, and Consequence announced that their albums albums will all release on that same day while Sean and Con made the proclamation of an official G.O.O.D Music billboard/music chart takeover (G.O.O.D Music Day).

Also said to be in the mix is none other than...

#CLASSICFRIDAYS...

I'm currently zoned out and mentally zooted thanks to the good work of The Chronic...

MAYBACH MUSIC...TEFLON DON 7/20

This upcoming week seems to be another exciting one for Hip-Hop being that we finally see an album release for Ross's Teflon Don.  After a couple of push backs, the Bawse is scheduled to release his most anticipated album release yet.  From appearances by Hov, Drake, Jadakiss, T.I. etc., Teflon Don may be an actual classic.

Last year's Deeper Than Rap was a good album but, I always said Trilla (2008) was waaaay better and personally my favorite Ross album; hopefully this upcoming release should have me saying otherwise.

This Tuesday, Support Hip-Hop and real music...

#Classic(POST)Friday

Okay I know today isn't Friday but, I wanted to post this video/song by the homey MA$E.  As some of you may know Mase was undoubtedly the biggest rapper out of NewYork in the late '90s, post B.I.G. and 'Pac era.  In other words, he was the sh*t.  His buzz was enough to make him the new, what many describe as, B.I.G's replacement. Further on, back then after the release of his fan favorite debut album, Harlem World, Mase and another big guy out of NY had some beef  that stemmed from a verse on 112's single "Love Me".

Live From Wireless Festival 2010...

All we have to say here is Jay-Z x J. Cole, both on one stage, in front of thousands...

Jay-Z (Feat J.Cole) - A Star Is Born (Wireless Festival 2010) from Roy Thomas on Vimeo.

SideBar: I was fortunate to see these two on stage together last year and it was just incredible and an epic moment almost like Nas and Hov when they made peace back in '05 for Power 105's "I Declare War Concert".  The reason to that is because Cole and Hov are like Vito and Michael Coreleone, except their not related.  Cole is on the Come Up while Hov already had and completed the Blueprint to his success.  He is undoubtedly one of the greatest rappers of all time (if not already), so to have him sign this newcomer to RocNation and officially co-sign him on "A Star is Born" is sort of like seeing a legend pass down the torch to his novice. On stage, live, its a scene that you get to witness before your eyes.

Live From Haiti...

I found the following letter to be very engaging and of utter importance considering the lack of knowledge there is on the CURRENT condition of Haiti after the tragic earthquake months ago. The tragedy affected many Haitian families from all over, including myself, so to hear a first hand report about the topical situation is indeed important.

A couple weeks ago, rappers Cormega, Styles P, and Immortal Technique were invited to perform a concert in Haiti that would assist in the community rebuilding process along as well as contributing support to Haitian Hip-Hop. Here's Immortal Technique's observation during his trip...I got to warn you that it's a long letter but, filled with valuable information...
